Judy's Story
Music has been in my life since I was about 5 or 6 years old. Starting with the xylophone, I studied flute and piano since the age of 10 and 13. Being in the pep band, band and orchestra at South Side Jr. High and at Central and then at the U of Wis. Madison was wonderful and gave me a lifetime love for symphonic music as well as the classical and Romantic styles. However, not having a mentor in the field, I didn't have the courage to make it my career. I became a socialworker and then a supervisor and finally a quality control supervisor. Since reitiring from that job, I rediscovered music and it all came back full force. Playing in orchestras in Colorado and Carmel, California as well as at Grossmont College in El Cajon, I've continured to enjoy the best music of my favorite composers. ring trios every week as well as travel to San Luis Obispo to study early music for a week every year. Also, I've traveled to Ischia, Italy to play with other musicians doing chamber including playing in a concert to wrap up. In addition, I went to France in 2015 to play chamber music with musicians from all over Europe for 10 days. The music gets better and better and more and more rewarding. At home, a good friend plays flute duets with me every week and we both attend local play-ins with other musicians in the area. Occasionally, we'll do a gig at a coffee shop or for a hospital or women's club entertainment. I'm thankful for my good start in music at Sheboygan's schools. In memory of Charles Faulhaber, Mr. Eddy, Edgar Mannchen, Wayne Becker and Donald Radmer. And, I'm thankful for my parents who supported my efforts and interests and saw to it I had an education.
