Juergen's Story
Life
After Leaving Taiwan we went to the Phillippines. We were expecting to stay for 3 years, but due to an illness of my mother we left after one year for Germany where my mother had to stay for continuous observation.
I entered the German high school in Donzdorf by Goeppingen, (which is about 40 Km east of Stuttgart) but was put from 10th grade back to 8th grade due to my lacking of French as a second foreign language. So there I was starting all over as the oldest in class. I continued until the 13th grade
(time of matric in Germany).
After that I went to University and studied medicine at first in Goettingen, near Hannover, then to Bochum in the
Ruhr-Rhein Area, after that to Essen, just next to Bochum,
and finaly to Ulm, which is about halfway between Stuttgart and Munich. I started working as an intern in Goeppingen, my home town, for one year. Due to a change in the head of the department I left for South Africa, where I worked in Durban for one Year at the McCord Zulu Hospital.
I returned to Germany at the end of 1992. Started in Ratingen by Duesseldorf as a medical officer with my specialisation. I left again after one year going back south to Schwaebisch Gmuend, just north-east of Stuttgart where I continued my specialisation and finaly specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I then changed as consultant to Geislingen/Steige, just in the middle between Go...Expand for more
eppingen and Ulm. I worked there for one year and was then offered a post in a Breast Unit in Rheinfelden where we treat a lot of breast cancer patients but also other female related oncologic illnesses as well as the "normal" female problems, where I still am now.
As to my private life:
In 1989 I got married the first time. But I suppose I was still to young and with me studying it was just to early.
I got divorced without children in 1995 and remarried in 1996. My wife Barbara and I have a daughter - Amraj - who was born in 1999.
In my spare time - which is quite scarce - I am presently on the Board of a Service-Club who`s goals are to help the needy. (Things like building schools in Nepal, Helping set up a drive-in operating Centre for disfigured young african girls in Tansania etc, and I`ll be out in Mombasa in Febuary 2003 with a team of Doctors from Germany to operate the poor women from the countryside who are not able to afford operations, and many other cases).
I have been doing that for about 10 years now. The club fortunately has a age rule where you have to leave once you turn 40. As it was my time this year, I`ll be out at our next AGM.
The Names I remember and have not been able to contact:
Tony Skinner, Brent Miller, John Pennell, Mary Mcgowan,
Cathy Carns, Michelle Moore, Kim Serna, Teresa Pelham.
Hope somebody will reply!
Greetings to all that know me.
