Julia's Story
I`m enjoying being "retired" I like to be productive for shorter periods of time during the year so I continue to serve at Indiana Wesleyan University `s school of nursing as an adjunct faculty member. I teach several nursing courses per year now at various locations I`m energized physically,mentally and spiritually through teaching. As of October of this year I became a manager for AARP`s online health/fitness (Fat2Fit) community forum. I find this to a great opportunity to write, learn,counsel ,teach and encourage and be encouraged by those striving for health . The great part about this forum is it is free and you don`t have to be age 50 or be a member of AARP to join the group! Carole Carson ,nationally known author of the book Fat To Fit is the coach for this community.
From April 2009 to the present my husband and I have been on a journey toward health and fitness ! Through AARP`s Fat2 Fit online health/fitness community called Fat2Fit and with South Beach`s diet plan,Les and I have lost together close to 100 lbs. it Challenge`s first prize. Les accompanied me to Orlando, Florida to receive my prize,. a year membership to Gold`s Gym with a Personal trainer. I am enjoying this experience but yes, it`s hard work!!!!!!!!! I thank God every day for opening doors for me and my husband to get healthier and fit! It feels good to be sixty- five years old now!!!!!!
We still serve customers who need service from our home based errand and delivery service. and after 18 years we still enjoy the service and the customers..
My husband and I still like to go RVing with our two dogs. We camp,fish and rest as much as possible. . We want to take a beach vacation next year too!!
I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. I still love teaching nursing students and have returned this year 2012 to IWU part time as faculty member in the RNBS nursing programI. I like to chat on social networks You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, EONs and AARP. .
I have a passion for geneology;I am contructing our family tree . .Keeps me in touch with my roots.and family members
My next goal is to write a book.
