Julia's Story

Life Well...after 45 years of secrets, my mother has finally told me about my biological father. Up to this point she has refused to talk about it at all to anyone. Even my grandparents didn't remember his name. And on Dec 30th 2007, my mom wrote it all out in a letter and mailed it to me on my birthday. As much as she could remember anyway, including the mans name. Richard Ira Wadsworth. She lived in the same apt complex as his sister Linda and her husband Phil. I think thats where she met Richard. They dated for a few months, she met his parents who came out to California from Kansas to visit Linda's new baby in 1962. Richard was in the Navy. I guess things got a little weird when she told him she was pregnant. He wanted her to see a doctor, but mom was too scared, considering gramma's position at the hospital, she knew every doctor in town. Mom was embarrassed, scared (consider the times) and I'm sure Richard was too. I think they had an arguement, she told him "not to worry about it, she'd take care of it" and they never spoke again. So, she kept the secret for 45 years and now I know. I've always wanted to know the story, who this man was/is. And now I know. I've been searching the internet for clues and I think I've got him located in Anza California. But he's 70 years old and I'm not sure of his health, so I don't want to just call him up and say, "hey, remember Caroline Young?" So my hope is to locate one of his kids and see where that leads. This is quite the journey of self discovery...check back and see...Expand for more
how I'm doing. You never know if things like this are going to turn out happy or sad. But it's a chance I gotta take, right? 1/14/08 It only takes a split second to change your life. After searching and emailing, phoning and in all other ways contacting people with the last name Wadsworth, getting "No sorry" and "Good Luck with the search", I finally got a "Yeah that's me" from Brent Wadsworth. I made contact. And since then, it's been an email frenzy with his sister (my sister) Michelle. Michelle is like looking in a mirror for me. Many of the same personality traits, like/dislikes etc. She is warm and inviting, understanding and accepting. Funny, charming, witty.....I have only known her for a week and yet it seems like I've known her forever. She alone was worth the wait. I'm so happy to be getting to know her. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to get to know the others. Maybe even my father. I'm glad I took the passive approach, contacting his kids first and getting their feedback on how to proceed. At this point they will handle talking to their dad. It is their family on the line, here. For anyone out there searching for long lost family...let me encourage you to keep the faith. When everything seems like it's stacked up against you, there can still be a breakthrough! Turn over every rock until you find what your looking for. I will continue to post here with updates. Thanks to all of you who wished me well in my search. To all of you who shared your own stories with me, know that they were so inspiring.!
