Julia's Story

High School always held a mixture of both good and bad memories for me. It gave me the strength to face some of the difficult times that life would throw my. Right after graduation I started dating the boy down the street and a little over a year later we had a son. The first of two boys. After years of jumping from one job to another I finally settled in at an Advertising Specialty Manufacturer working in the accounting field as I had planned for back in high school. 20 plus years later I am still working for the same company as their payroll manager and handling their benefits also. Both of my sons grew up and then life took an ugly turn. My father who had been living with us passed away from cancer and within a year and a half my youngest son would also pass away at the age of 22. My marriage crumbled and I divorced. Times have been hard but I am a survivor. The rough times growing up, the struggles early on in life, gave me the strength and determination I have used many times to weather the storms of life. Do I have any regrets or things I wish were different from the days when I went to Parkway - No. The things I wish I could change all happened either before or after. I have many blessings that I will always be grateful for. Friends who have been there when the days were so dark giving me the strength to stumble on. Faith from God's love carrying me through when I felt I could not take ano...Expand for more
ther step. People whether kind or not giving me courage or determination to find my own way in this world. Hope that those who don't understand may never know the pain of losing a mother as a child or losing a child as a mother as I do on both counts. Is my life better for having had so many happy times or worse because of the sad times?? As long as I am living my life it is my life and it is what I choose to make of it and the end has not been written yet so it cannot be said yet that it is a sad life because I believe the best is yet to be written. Who I am and where I've been mean nothing by the time you read this because it is all history. What matters is what I am doing the second you are reading this and that, well,Is impossible to write as I am busy right now. My obsessions - hmmm...... Well, after 30 years of marriage to a man that did not like dancing I started hanging out at Wild Country and learned line dancing. Now I get a laugh and a smile when I go places and friends say I saw you on tv last night. No I am not the greatest dancer but I do go out and have fun on the dance floor with friends when they tape St. Louis Country. It is also a way of facing fears from the past. Other obsessions I love racing and have been a member of a local car club for many years. Smile - life is good as long as you look forward. Remember you cannot change the past and the future has not been written yet!!
