Juliane's Story

Life I moved from Dayton, NY to Clarence, NY a few years after graduating with an Associates degree in Math/Science from JCC. I worked 2-3 jobs and went to college off and on, but couldn't get ahead. In Oct '97 my family encouraged me to move to Peoria, AZ, and after I saw the job opportunities, I did. In Aug '00 I purchased my first home, and in July '06 I purchased my 2nd. The summers are a little crispy, but the rest of the time it is good. I was hired for UPS and then worked for a private prison which allowed me to transition into working for the County. Currently I am a ranking supervisor working in a maximum security jail which was just built in Phoenix. This is one of 7 jails that we operate in Phoenix. I supervise 100+ staff members and 1800 inmates using the latest technology. The County processes over 100 bookings in an 8 hour shift and only half of those get released from custody, so we have to have places to keep the rest. Every prisoner coming in the door must be screened for contraband (many times), and it is shocking to see what other agencies have missed. I also worked for about 5 years at Tent City. This is were America's Toughest Sheriff houses 1000+ inmates in tents, no heaters, no a/c units just Tents! Love it!!! I'm single but in a relationship and dragging my feet you could say. My boyfriend has 3 teenage sons and a grand baby. I have no children but live vicariously through my friends and their families. I love to travel... cruises and international places are on my top places to see. Basically give me a palm tree, the ocean, sand, and a cold drink... I'm happy. I discovered that you can spend a lot of money on vacations but oddly enough the thing the kids remember and had the most fun doing was the stuff they did for free. Besides travel I like to work on genealogy projects and I'm pretty good at taking pictures. I have an XBOX 360 and that is pretty entertaining. I am looking forward to our 20 year reunion. I have reconnected with several friends from high school, and if you are interested drop me a line. School I really had some of the greatest times in high school. My close friends know what I'm talking about. Prom night was great fun, but I wasn't at the "prom". I'm not going to go into detail but suffice it to say that I was never bored unless I was in school... ha ha ha. Those were the days. And those days spilled over into college days. Those were fun too because we had even more freedom, more anonymity, and more pranks to pull. Keep your friends close and your enemies CLOSER. Don't worry I won't name names, but we crashed family reunions, graduation parties, house parties, we called tons of people and most of them believed what we were saying. Fun fun fun. I wouldn't change a thing. College I remember my first day at Fredonia College and listening to why other students chose to go there. Parents beware as I don't think a one mentioned anything about EDUCATION. The name sounded cool or it was too far away for my parents to come and check up on me on the spur of the moment. Amazing! Still this is where you found out who your true frie...Expand for more
nds are. One had a car, one was 21, one was working at the store in town. Networking was never so important. Downtown there was always something happening... making challenges to strangers, de-pantsing people at the bar and them not knowing it, crawling out a car window because the driver has been stopped by the police and the doors don't work, excusing almost everything you got caught doing with "I didn't know".... and they believed you. 2nd chances were the best because it was another opportunity to do it BETTER. Workplace It all started for me on the dinner train.... making drinks and serving salads, and it was alot like the movie "Waiting". I could not believe what happened to that food prior to it being cooked and eaten. I moved up, and began working at the Gowanda Nursing home. Lots of drama amongst staff and the patients gave you an eye full of what you had to look forward to in your later years of a so called life. I moved on to Tops and got a broader view of big business. It was fun in the evening hours but during the day it was nothing but arguments. There were cliques with staff and socializing often took coworkers away from their duties. I learned skills that I would use in my later careers. Rotisserie chickens were always a good debate between staff, customers and management. Management couldn't decide if having the chickens skewered right side up or upside down was worse. The customer was either staring at the bloody neck or up its ass. Customers would come in at 9am asking for a chicken that wouldn't be done until 11am for the lunch rush. "Can you speed it up, or put it in the microwave?" Huh? But I learned how to scrape out a chicken's kidneys in record time using only two fingers. Priceless. Then the salad bar was always fun. Customers would argue over the weight of the salad and the cost per pound. Either buy it or don't but now you are just wasting my time. I don't get commision. You would have these individuals that would walk around the entire store eating but not paying for anything. You would just hope they stayed away from your section. The moms that would open packages and feed their kids that were being pushed in the carts were fun to watch, especially when they would attempt to place the package back on the shelf and thought no one was looking. New employees were fun too. They would walk in being told of stories of promotion and bonuses, and that we are a TEAM, and then they would be given an apron and led to three sinks full of industrial size dishes to clean and they would just walk out. I worked at a beauty supply company too. I'll never forget the day a transient-esk type rolled into the store with his wheelchair and made a pair of expensive hair cutting scissors diappear. It took the cop almost an hour to locate those scissors, and they weren't hidden in the wheelchair!!!! We would have punk/goth people coming in for hair color advice. "I dyed, then bleached, dyed and then bleached my hair again... its falling out and won't hold any color what should I do"... yeah.. there's WIGS R US down the street and tell them I sent you. Good day!
