Julie's Story
Life
I have been married for 27 years and have 2 sons, Naader who is 25 and Yousef who is 18. Both of my sons were and are brilliant students. Naader was Class Valedictorian in high school in 2001 and won many awards. He attended UCLA and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. He took a year off from his studies and went back and got a teaching credential in Social Science and now is currently teaching at a high school in San Bernadino. Yousef was also #1 in his class and was Class Valedictorian too, back in June 2008. He is very energetic and well liked by his friends. Though he received a scholarship to attend Trinity College in Connecticut, he chose to stay home and is now attending Cal State Fullerton and hopes to transfer to UCLA next Fall to study Biology.
This is my second marriage and my husband, Ali, is originally from Cairo-Egypt, but is also an American citizen. We have been back and forth to Egypt 4 times, but Buena Park is home now. I have a lot of health problems. Emphysema(I smoked for close to 25 yrs.), Congestive Heart Failure, Diabetes II, and Major Depression. I don't work, neither does my husband as we are both disabled. Our sons are our pride and joy as well as our cats, Murphy and Speedy. One a...Expand for more
Siamese mix and the other a typical black house cat. We enjoy eating out, renting movies, and shopping. I still write poetry and have been published in three different poetry anthology's. I have also expanded my endeavors to include writing fiction. I have written a story in the Popular Fiction genre and have a manuscript ready. If I could only find a publisher! Writing seems to run in the family as my eldest son also writes poetry and my younger son has dabbled in it on occasion. My mother was a poet too. I guess it may have been noticed that I have not talked much about my husband. While I doubt we will ever get divorced, we don't get along very well and I'll leave it at that....I guess I should update this. We are getting along better lately. Maybe with our kids growing up and moving on we've discovered that we only have each other.
Now I would like to add that you might find me listed under my previously married name of Khaled. That marriage lasted for about five years and then I took my maiden name back. When I remarried I hyphenated it with my current husband's name. We had no children.
Up to date as of December 6, 2008.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
