Julie's Story
Life
I'm presently living in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and have for the last 21 years. Roll Tide! My husband, Rob, is a Pfifer Fellow Professor of Marketing and Executive Director, Innovation Initiatives at the University of Alabama. Even though we have 3 daughters we are very active in watching and participating in sports. Kinda of great to be involved with Bama for football, softball and now men's basketball but Rob graduated from KU so we had that covered for basketball. I have three daughters: Rachael, Tori and Savannah. Rachael graduated from SMU, proud to say Summa Cum Laude in 2005 went to Atlanta directly after school to participate in Teach for America and is now at the University of Chicago in law school. She loved Dallas and although she will be working for Kirkland this summer in New York City she hopes someday to get back to Dallas. My middle child, Tori, is a freshman at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi where she is playing college basketball. Tori played and was a key player in volleyball, basketball and softball for her high school. Ironically, her hitting/pitching coach graduated from North Mesquite, Amanda Locke, who was on the National Championship team last year for Bama. We had alot of fun with her talking about the old days and stomping grounds in Mesquite. ...Expand for more
My youngest, Savannah, is a junior at Northridge High school where she plays volleyball and has been our world traveler. She traveled to Narashino, Tuscaloosa's sister city in Japan this past summer and was chosen to go to Ghana in October as an official delegate where they signed the papers for Sunyani Techiman to become a sister city for Tuscaloosa starting in 2013. It was a great opportunity and she was able to meet many dignitaries and tour some great historical places. The second day she was in Ghana her group went to a chief's funeral where they sacrificed a goat. I don't think she will every forget that. She is currently in YEA (young entrepreneurs of America) working on a product to earn money for her sister city in Ghana and to top that off she is currently a Tuscaloosa Belle for the Historical Preservation Society. I basically stay busy trying to keep up with my family enjoying traveling to watch daughter #2 play basketball, visiting Chicago and hopefully New York this summer and just trying to keep up with #3. I still have an ebay business and starting to sell on Etsy. I really miss Texas but have found friends and a home here. All my family live in Texas so we do get back some. Hope to hear from some of you and it's great to see some other bios on what everyone is doing!
