Julie's Story

I hope that my old friends remember me as a friendly, nice, kind and giving person. When anyone would ask for help with school, problems, or just wanted to talk about something. I did my very best to be there for them. My work schedule sometimes got in the way, but I always tried to get together later. If I was unable to assist my friend, I would suggest someone that could help them. I wasn't extremely popular like some of my friends, but I wasn't a fly on the wall either. I was kinda shy and didn't participate in sports (after I broke my ankle on the horse in gymnastics at Nimitz Jr. High) but I could sing and was in the winter musical"Comedy Tonight" produced and directed by Mr.Salter in '77' along with a great cast of co-stars. It was FANTASTIC fun. I even met one friend, Dewayne Hopkins, but writing notes on the desk in class. I think of my friends as an off branch of my family. They are actually even better because I can tell my friends anything and know that I will receive a sincere and honest response. True Friends always tell the truth because they care enough not to lie. I think I heard that somewhere!! Oh! Yeah! I remember! My grandma always told me,"Never lie because ultimately you're the one that gets hurt in the end". I believe I may have told my children that a time or two. I still try to help people - friend or stranger - if I can help I will. I was in a fabric store 10/31/08 while a mother and a grandmother were tryi...Expand for more
ng to find the best material for a Halloween costume. The mother was talking to her daughter about the materials they found and tried to get her okay to buy one of their selections. They were talking very loud and I couldn't help but overhear their conversation. So I went over to see if I could assist them in making a fabric choice. It turns out that within minutes the mother and grandmother (with the daughters okay) were off to get thread and have the material cut. It wasn't much, just a little of my time, but it made a great difference to the two women shopping. If I had to choose a time in my life to relive (especially with the knowledge that I have today) I would go back to my Bell High years. I think that my experiences might have been different. I would still be a nice, kind and giving person but it would be the enhanced, more outgoing me. I think that my old friends and I would have even more fun than we did the first time around. Here's to you my friends because you were there for me too. I'm looking forward to our 30th reunion and hope to see as many of you as I can. We're the "Conquestadores" and there's no stopping us (Barring an Aztec tribal warrior in need of a sacrifice to the "SUN GOD". Ha! Ha!). Our lives are in our hands and we can achieve anything as long as we persevere when we have friends to help us. Wishing each of you the love, joy and happiness that life brings your way.
