Life Julie Stewart Honored as Masterful Educator by Kindermusik® International’s Maestro Program (Clayton, North Carolina) … (Julie Stewart, of Johnston County,) has again been selected as a member of the Kindermusik International Maestro Program – an exclusive membership that annually recognizes licensed educators who have demonstrated superlative performance based on program size, outreach to underserved populations of children, and mastery in teaching. Kindermusik is the world’s largest music and movement program for children newborn through 7 years old. According to Michael Dougherty, CEO of Kindermusik International, the company established the Maestro Program to reward Kindermusik educators whose achievements and outreach have risen “above and beyond, and have helped us on the highest level to further our mission of reaching every child and family with the power and beauty of music.” Stewart was selected as a Kindermusik Maestro as a result of her program’s growth to one of the company’s largest in terms of children served. According to Stewart, “I am delighted with the honor of bringing music into the lives of so many families. It provides a parent-child bond unlike any other activity you and your child enjoy because you enjoy it together.” Stewart offers a full program of Kindermusik curricula for children from newborn through 7 years old. erwood Athletic Club Development. Established in 1994, she offers daytime and evening or weekend classes for all levels of Kindermusik and a variety of class choices during the summer. In addition, Mrs. Stewart is available on a limited basis to teach Music Box by Kindermusik® to area preschools or daycares. ...... Stewart is active at First Baptist Church in Clayton as a member of the Chancel Choir and is director of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade choir. She is a current member of the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Johnston County Arts Council and JCAC Membership Chairperson for the three years in a row. Mrs. Stewart also performs as a soloist, and is a member and past president of the Johnston County Chorale. She is married to Ken Stewart and has two daughters, Rosalie, a student at Appalachian State University and Kendra a student at Queens University of Charlotte. Created by early childhood music and movement specialists and informed by the latest research in child development, Kindermusik programs provide early childhood learning through innovative music and movement curricula, which involve families in their children’s total development.
