Julie Hanavan Olsen:

CLASS OF 1979
Eugene, OR

Julie's Story

How the hell does one sum up 30 years in a box like this? Just the basics then: went to Oakland Bay Area for school after WCHS- worked as an office manager in South San Francisco. Got married in 1982 to Dan (his picture is here in 'friends' somewhere), moved back to Eugene so I could stay home with my kids. J.D. born in 1984, works, as his dad does, for Lane County Sheriff's Department, he went to Western Oregon majoring in police services. Hanna born in 1987, graduated a semester early from Western Washington, with a degree in lit. She just landed an internship with the Seattle NPR station. Emma born in 1987, is also currently a Lane County employee, with animal control. She has a hospice foster dog that was on death's door over a year ago, but...Expand for more
has made some kind of miraculous recovery. Mostly I have spent the past billion years being a volunteer in the kids' schools (I have run just about every fundraiser known to 4J, and sold more grocery scrip than I can even keep track of), but now we are in an empty nest. Which at first was very difficult, now we find it to be tons of fun. I teach needlepoint and cross stitch, also create the displays for several local companies and make special customer order pieces. I read Tarot cards and manage a holiday kiosk. Oops, just glanced at my beloved spouse's profile, he went to Hayward High, and he calls me his "lovely wife" -guess I better say something equally as nice. I know, "we are still married, and he hasn't tossed me out on my ass, yet."
