Julie's Story

Life We are back in Iowa! We left Alaska July 1, 2011 and are now living in Davenport, since Ted is stationed at the Rock Island Arsenal. This is our sixth move with the army, which is not bad compared to how it used to be. So far, we have lived in Texas, North Carolina, Colorado, Virginia, and Alaska. Ted spent 2002 in Korea and 2005 in Iraq. Ted is now in his 22nd year in the US Army. I thought maybe he would be ready to retire, but he still loves it and wants to stay in as long as they'll keep him. It's fine with me. Ted and I are enjoying "our" time. We do a lot of camping and site seeing. We have two traveling partners with us; a miniature dachshund, Snickers and a teacup yorkie, Penelope. They are our kids! I'm still working on my Bachelors Degree. I am attending the Academy of Art University. Their Architectural Interior Design program is certified with CIDA, which is a good reason to switch from Westwood College to the Academy of Art. I will probably be 55, by the time I obtain my degree, but it will be worth it. I will still have 15-20 years to work in the design field, so I figure it is never too late to g...Expand for more
et a degree. Therefore, if anyone has been hesitating making the decision to return to school, take it from me; it is well worth it! Thank you to all who pray for our service members and their families. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers from citizens who really care. God Bless you All! We plan on spending a lot of time with family and friends, now that we're so close to home. Update: August 1, 2013 Ted bought me a house in Port Byron, IL for our 30th wedding anniversary! This will be our last move (hopefully) until the Lord takes us HOME! We looked at homes in Davenport & Bettendorf, but just couldn't find what we wanted for the price we wanted to pay; so we went one exit into Illinois and found our perfect home in Port Byron. We really love living in this "Village" on the banks of the Mississippi directly across from LeClaire, IA. If you want to attend an event that is unique and fun, join us or LeClaire residents for the "Great River Tug Fest" the first Thursday - Saturday in August; a tug of war competition across the Mississippi between the two towns. For more info go to tugfest.org. Hope to see you there!

She is my oldest and most beautiful great niece. Very proud of her.
So true! I love you, my beautiful girl!
I hope this is what others see.

Ok.
I'm going to bed now. But before I do, I want to share something with all of you.
Stoled this picture from one of the guys on the Charter who also had taken pictures. Ted looks like he's having fun, huh?

Final Design Project for my Color Theory and Design Class Spring 2012. Had to design and paint a Mandala as a representation of ourselves.
Due to recent events, including some of the speeches given by our so called allies at the United Nations, not to mention our nation's ever increasing debt crisis, I think it may be time to consider this option . . .
On the way back from the game, we stop at the Dekalb, IL Oasis for fuel and food. There were a number of these types of posters along the walls of the eating area. Anywhere else, I would have been surprised to see my name

November 21, 2012: Today I am thankful for our kids. OK, so they're not really humans, they're puppies; well, they're not actually puppies because they're older than 1 year old, but they are pretty small! Oh for goodness
