June's Story
Life
I've been married to Earle since 1975. We live in a small town in northeast PA (pop 2500!!) and I love it! I am very lucky to be able to volunteer with hospice. I work with patients in their homes, in nursing homes & at the hospital. I also help train new vols & work in the office. I am a power lifter & work out with a trainer at least twice/week & do cardio 3/week. I am a library board member of a county library system & I am on the board of our county theatrical group. I discovered acting just last year & have been in 5 productions in the last year. I also work with high school kids bringing small performances (...Expand for more
1/2 hour shows) to 3 to 7 year olds at their summer reading programs. It's so much fun & is a wonderful counterbalance to working with the dying.
Workplace
After graduation from OHS I went to Worcester Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing & graduated from there in 1966. I worked with children with life limiting illnesses in Boston, NYC and Philadelphia. At St. Christopher's Hospital in Philly I also worked in the first pediatric dialysis unit on the East Coast & was head nurse there for 2 years before I left to get married in 1975. I have been volunteering in all aspects of hospice care with a program in Binghamton, NY since 1980.
