Justin's Story
After high-school I got an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and then worked for a while as an engineer before deciding that grad school sounded like more fun. In 2003 I started a PhD in quantum optics at the University of Arizona. After my comprehensive exams I was lucky enough to get a Rotary scholarship to study physics at the University of Oxford. I am currently working as a postdoc at the University of California, Irvine. Since it's theoretical physics work I spend most of my time in Tucson with my wife Kaitlin who is almost done with a PhD in neuroscience.
As an old man I enjoy surfing, running in five-finger shoes and wearing lots of tweed. In the future I hope to someday return to earning what I did when I was 19 as an engineer.
