Prior to this, I was a so called nerdy band geek, looking not over that 10th grade english class I had to retake in summer school, but what. You can tell now from the combination of words I use, but anyway. "BOY THAT BOY DONE CAME OUT THOSE WOODS AND DONE WENT CRAZY" when actually, I flipped out before hand. Shoo, it was the beginning of my junior year of highschool. My birthday came late. So I was always a year younger than everyone else all the time anyway. I can say the atmosphere was kaotic because of the war and all, with all due respect. But ya boy was smooova than a muthu. I can't lie. The ratio of women to men was a lil off. Ya boy got back from the summer straight up promoted to 1st sergeant supply officer. Oh yeah, I'm talking bout jrotc. Ya boy was clean every Thursday, but any how. I had a little authority with my on lil squad and stuff. But really IT WASN'T BOUT THAT. Really what it was about was that big knot of cash I kept in my pocket, walking round with stuff tailored from one of my main mans. Speaking of tailored, as the supply officer, I noticed a small back room full of beat up old ...Expand for more
drums in the supply room. My teacher gave me permission to fix them jokers up and start a little small drum and bugle corp. This is where the stuff gets good. I played with 4 other guys from the marching band, two sax players and 2 trumpet players. Alternating, of course, I kept the snare. We rocked a snare, a bassdrum, sometimes a tenor drum, trumpet, a tenor sax and bass sax. We marched in the 90/91 Homecoming parade... You talking bout love... We played stuff that was on the radio in heavy rotation like 45 king and Jodeci. As soon as the parade was over, I was on something and something was on me. BUT ANYWAY, GETTING BACK TO THE BIO..... I heard, I saw, and I felt music as early as I can remember from my father. But I started writing music my senior year out of highschool, for the drums, for my school's marching band with my best friend." Kendrick has a deep root with Hip Hop from the streets of the Kakalak. He was introduced to professionalism home at his grandfather's professional gospel singings where the Steele Sisters, his mother and two aunts, always opened up for. He was also introduced to professionalism in the mountains to Charlotte in his jazz trio, with Penthouze productions, and the talented most brilliant Kino Watson, in several studios, attending Western Carolina University where he received a music scholarship. Kendrick aka Mullah is influenced by music . Kendrick did summer band camps for the marching band at two highschools here in the local area and observed, with his best friend, at the rest of them. Also in the mountains, he gigged at bars, clubs, formal dinners, house parties, weddings, in the community theater, and voluntarily in the community orchestra. Socializing and associating himself with many different talented people, Kendrick aka MULLAH STILL LOVES HIP HOP !!".
