Kaleen's Story
Went to Brigham Young University after HS graduation. Received an Associate degree in Family Living and a Bachelor's Degree in Clothing & Textiles with enough credits for a music minor.
I've sung solos, written songs and been in and/or directed choirs, ensembles and musicals over the years, mostly through my LDS Church associations.
Married fellow class-member David Bennett in 1973 and have lived in Corvallis, OR; Canyon Country and Canoga Park, CA; and Aloha, OR since then. We designed and built our home in the Hazeldale grade school attendance area. We have 3 of each, grown sons & daughters, and among them they've given us 10 going on 12 grandchildren. Mostly I've thrived on learning by raising our family and occasionally homeschooling some of them, but I've been gainfully employed a few times over the years at such things as:
pressing draperies, paying Oregon Higher Education's bills (accounts payable clerk), selling Avon (one daughter now sells MaryKay & would not like me mentioning the competition) and Amway, running an audio recording business with my husband, delivering the Oregonian (also with my husband), supervising data entry workers for the 1990 Census, reshelving media materials at Shute Park & Tanasbourne branches of the Hillsboro Library, and I now assist people researching their family history and teach preschool to grandchildren (but for sheer joy, not monetary compensation).
