Karen's Story
After graduation, I moved to Florida and joined the U.S. Coast Guard. I married Dustin Kuers, and we traveled with the Coast Guard for several years. After a few years of marriage, Dustin and I had a son, Alec in 1996. Sadly, our marriage did not survive and we are now divorced. I served 5 years in the military and then returned to the civilian life to embark on a scholarly journey which is still in progress as we speak. and chose to select education as my field of study. After graduation, I began teaching kindergarten and working on my masters degree in educational leadership. I currently live in Celebration, Florida (a little town outside of Orlando build by Walt Disney World in 1996) and am in my second year of my Doctorate of Education degree. I am very blessed to have my mom and my sister living in the same town as my son and I. We have a wonderful time park-hopping and enjoying all that Orlando has to offer.
