Karen's Story
Life
After college at Indiana and graduate school at Carnegie Mellon, I spent several years in Pittsburgh playing opera. I am now a full-time member of the Phoenix Symphony, getting paid to play great music! I am also very involved in the politics of our union organization, contract negotiating, shmoozing with the board, etc. I have started a group called the Young Friends of the Phoenix Symphony which targets people ages 20 -40, ...Expand for more
getting them excited about classical music. In my spare time I do triathlons. I have now completed 4 marathons, 3 half-ironmans, and 1 full Ironman, and I am now training for Ironman Canada 2006. I have private violin and viola students who come to my home in north Phoenix. During the summers I travel a lot. I spend every August in Oregon, and June and July are full of smaller trips. I am back in the bay area 3 -4 times per year.
