Karen's Story
After graduating from Manchester College with a BS in Education I stumbled around for 4 years during the recession, trying to find my place on this earth. I was the 6th female hired to the Fort Wayne Police Department where I spent my last 9 years as a sergeant. I retired after 20 years of service.
I was finally able to return to my first love, teaching. I was hired to teach at Geyer Middle School. As the yearbook adviser, I saw some oldie, but goodie yearbooks that contained pictures of some of my favorite high school buddies! What fun was that!!!
After 5 years at Geyer, I had an idea for starting my own business. I often tell people that I quit teaching to become a millionaire. It just didn't work out. No big deal. After 1 year of that nonsense, I returned to to my first love, teaching.

raders for 15 years.
I am now retired from both.
I was always a late bloomer ... didn't marry until I was 37. I have one child, Ross, who gradjuated from DePauw University, completed Officer Candidate School for USMC and is now a 1st Lieutenant, USMC.
Life here in the Fort has been good to me. My life has been an amazing journey of ups and downs, zigs and zags. I have traveled the world, met some fantastic people, and am blessed with my Christian faith.
I love having adventures, new experiences, and love a great funny story. My experiences have proved to me that life is truly stranger than fiction. I have seen more of life that most are allowed to see and I consider that to be a true gift.
I hope you all have had wonderful lives, worked through the painful episodes, and become stronger, better people for those experiences.
