Karen's Story
Life
After 20 years as a Certified, residential contractor I have stopped building houses. I won two First Place awards for houses I entered in the Polk County parade of new homes. One home was featured in the newspaper, because I designed and built it wheelchair accessible. I was one of the first women contractors to enter homes in the parade for our area. I am now watching my grandchild, Connor, who is three-years-old--while his half-brother goes to fifth grade and his mom and dad work. I am concentrating on the writing of novels and short stories, children's stories, and I have had four short stories published. I now have an agent willing to sign with me, and one of my novels is in the hands of a pubishing company. Hopefully, after asking to read the whole book, they will publish it...Expand for more

We attend Lake Gibson Church of the Nazarene, and at the present time, I teach a senior adult (70's-and older) Sunday School class.
My husband and I live in Lakeland, Florida--along with most of our family. My son, Cameron, works for Geico in Lakeland, and my daughter, Stephanie, works for South Florida Water Management--covering four counties in Florida. I have two step-daughters, Jenny and Jill, who are married and between the two of them there is five more grandchildren to watch, especially on weekends! My husband is retired from FedEx, but working with Schwans.
We have one large white dog--who is part greyhound--and one six-year-old cat. The dog loves to go camping with us and loves to ride and hike. We quite often camp in the mountains of GA and VA, using a pop-up camper.
