Karen's Story

We returned to our home state of Texas when we left Okinawa. I was a sophomore and so unhappy to leave Kadena. I graduated in my Junior year, thanks to the amazing education we received at Kubasaki and spent a year modeling locally in San Antonio where my father retired. I attended the University of Texas graduating with a BJ and moved to Dallas where I began assisting commercial advertising photographers. Photo assisting was bleak and boring so I segued into producing and styling photographs within that first year. That turned out to be a great move and I spent 25 years as a photo stylist and producer working with some of the most amazingly talented photographers in the country. I was able to attend the NY fashion shows, meet and work with celebrities, sports figures and politicians and generally have a great time! The work I did appeared on covers of national, regional and local magazines, in national and regional television commercials and I even managed to work on a film. It was fun, but exhausting and of course you had to be devoted to it! I met and married an Englishman in 1988 and had our son in 1997. Having a child changes your focus and I was ready for a change! I began writing again and started a home staging busine...Expand for more
ss so I could have the flexibility a mother needs. I continue to write copy for local, regional and national companies as well as articles on home and design.I began writing for one of the best known real estate websites in the country Candy's Dirt and that has been a lot of fun. My home staging business, Eubank Staging, is the oldest and most experienced in Dallas . I divorced in 2009. My son, Rowan went to our nationally known performing arts school Booker T Washington. He received a full ride to The University of Miami to study jazz piano and on to The New England Conservatory of Music for graduate school, So that's the nutshell version of the past 40 years. I am thrilled to have Classmates and Facebook at my fingertips to catch up with old friends. We had a mini Kubasaki reunion for my birthday in November 2012 with Carla Meli (now Rice), Dennis Shen and Sue Briggs (now Goldstone). I'm happy to say, none of us has changed! Carla , Pam Nichols, ( now Jenison) and I try and meet every year or two for a national or international trip. We all three went to Amsterdam a few years ago and Carla and I went to Prague and Vienna last September. I’d love to hear from former classmates. Our experience In Okinawa was so special .
