Karen's Story
Hello Classmates! It is hard to believe 48 years have passed so quickly. Can you believe we are this old? I spent those years raising two wonderful kids--Michael and Jennifer. No grandkids. I was married for 20 years to a Marine whom I met while working at Lakehurst NAS after graduation. I have been divorced and happily single for 20+ years. Over the years we lived in PA, NC, IN and the last 40 years in beautiful Michigan. I worked at various offices wherever we lived and spent the last 27 years as Director of Finance in our local county government prior to retiring in 2013. I am enjoying retirement and especially not having to drive to work through snow and ice anymore. ventually adapted. Besides, spring, summer and fall are gorgeous and wonderful, which makes it all worthwhile.
I love all animals especially the various pets I have rescued over the years. My best bud is my sweet cat Buddy, and I am hoping to get a dog again. I enjoy feeding and watching birds, flower and veggie gardening, sunsets over Lake Michigan, Mackinac Island and the U.P. of Michigan, impromptu picnics, reading, music and doing needlework. I admit to being a news and politics nerd...there is no hope for me.
As long as I can sit on my back porch with a cup of coffee, listen to the birds and watch the sun come up over the hill behind my property, I am a very happy girl. Life is good and I hope to enjoy it for a long time to come...I hope the same for all of you too.
