Karen G.'s Story
Life
Started school in TX, spent 3rd grade in 3 different schools (2 in MO). Finished thru HS in MO. Dated all of about 6 people from 7th-12th grade.
Met my husband, Mike, Soph yr college in MN & married in Dec '91. Lived in CT for 15 years, now from near Rolla, MO! Up & sold the CT house, left our jobs & moved! Found new jobs & bought 16 acres & love it!
Survived a head-on car accident on Jul 16 '03 with a new appreciation for life & do/dream it now. Outdoor hobbies include snow skiing, sailing, flying small planes & mowing our "lawn."
Love to travel! Have been to Bermuda (twice), England, France, Ireland, Western Carribean, US Virgin Islands & British Virgin Islands. Still so many more trips planned!

High School
Choir, flag corps, swimming, yearbook photographer & theater were things in which I participated.
Some falls days I still want to go back to the football games, the halftime shows & take photos of the players. ")
College
Entered St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN in fall of '85 w/plans to major in French & study abroad. Plans change!
Participated in St. Olaf Christian Outreach beginning middle Soph yr. Met my husband through this grp (thank you, Susie!). Ended up leading the Clowning grp Sr yr. Volunteered w/the Girl Scout troop at the Deaf School in Fairbault during Soph yr. Was a photographer for yearbook Sr yr.
Graduated May '89 w/a major in Religion & concentration in Psych. Try off & on to finish the Psych! I may just have to take a month's leave &take an Interim course on the hill to get it done!

ked at Six Flags Over Mid-America for several summers through high school &college. Many sunny days I miss working outdoors!
Have been a Mary Kay skin care consultant since college graduation & love it! June 2007 marks 19 yrs & I've no plans to quit.
Began post-college work in an engineering firm in St. Louis (International Waste Energy Systems Inc). They were sold in 1990 to a company in Pittsburgh, PA. I helped w/the move, but was laid off, so I went to CT to look for a job. (Was engaged & he was in CT.)
Found an admin position in banking in Hartford, CT (Northeast Savings, FA). Company was sold to Shawmut Bank, who immediately merged w/Fleet Bank. Fortunately, the systems only went thru 1 conversion ~ right to Fleet's. I was laid off when conversion was complete.
Took about a yr off, living on severance & unemployment. (I was building my customer base in Mary Kay.)
Found a PT job as a receptionist w/the Greater Southington Chamber of Commerce. Worked there for approx. a yr.
Began work as admin assist to VP for an insurance carrier (Blue Ridge Insurance Company). He left after a couple yrs. I was moved into the dept he ran, taking over work for 2 ladies who quit shortly after him! Kept this job, but company merged w/sister company (General Casualty). Merger began Oct '01 & wasn't done until '05. Crazy! Up & left this job with no prosects on horizon to move to MO!
As of 10/05 I work in the Office of International Affairs for the University of Missouri-Rolla campus (name changed 1/1/08 to Missouri University of Science & Technology). Learning a ton! Enjoying the campus atmosphere immensely.
