Karen's Story

I am a long way from Louisiana, and going even farther! I have lived in the Denver,Colorado area for five years and am currently in Calgary,Alberta searching for housing for a four stint. I have two successful daughters, one in Chicago working on her doctorate and another in Colorado pursuing her post graduate after working for a couple of years in the cognitive training field. My husband is the Wells Delivery Manager for Shell Canada Upstream in Calgary. I decided,after staying at home and raising children,to go to college. I graduated from ULL at the age of 47 with a degree in Psychology after four years of full time study. It was the best gift I could have given myself!After arriving in Denver,two days after graduating,I eventually began working as a cognitive trainer, working with children and adults with information processing deficits (memory,attention,processin...Expand for more
g speed, etc.) I became the Director of Training, then Center Director of Learning Rx in Parker, CO. After I lost my mother last spring, I realized I missed being in the trainer chair and helping people directly, so I resigned my management position and went back to that chair! Now I will be studying for my masters here in Calgary (social psych.) I have two french bulldogs, Lucca and Vino, an adopted fey cat named Sushi, and a lovely white and black paint mare that I practice the art of dressage with. I love hiking, snowshoeing, photography and painting. I love to travel probably most of all. I have been to Italy twice, Greece and Scotland. Next year is Spain and Italy, again!
