Karen's Story

Currently, I am living a life of leisure in Helotes,Texas a town of of 7500 people, adjacent to San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio is a town I fell in love with during my first Air Force assignment in 1972. Twenty years later, in 1992, I retired form the Air Force with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and returned briefly to San Antonio to enjoy a very short retirement.. From 1993 through 2005, I lived in the Washington DC area where I worked as vice president of the National Organization for Women (NOW). In 2005, I retired again and returned to the San Antonio area. After high school, I went on to nursing school in Newark, NJ and became a registered nurse. I earned a bachelors of science degree ...Expand for more
from Loretto Heights College, Denver, Colorado and a masters degree from Yale University. I never married or had children. Like many of you, my parents are no longing living. My brother died of ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease) here in San Antonio in late 2013. I am fortunate to have my three sisters (still in NJ) and two teenage nephews. In addition, I have a great extended family of friends and am blessed to be in a love filled relationship. During my time in the military, I was stationed a year in Thailand,(during the Viet Nam War) and two years in Spain. I love traveling, reading, movies and connecting with people. My life has been a most excellent adventure and the adventure continues.
