Karen's Story
I eventually graduated from USF, majored in Economics. I worked for the Federal Govt. very briefly, and went to Law School at Stetson in St. Petersburg.No one thought I could do it but me. I skipped High School so much that I kept dreaming I never graduate. I was in house Counsel at a company that was a DoD contractor. We made explosives. I eventually got married in 1992. I was a Public Defender in Bartow, Sebring and Tampa. I ended up working in 3 businesses at the same time: Criminal Defense, Pawnshop and Bailbonds. That almost killed me. I was divorced, but then my ex-husband bought a great 83' boat and I went with him to Key West. We traveled all over and did charters too. when he died of pancreatic cancer. Whooo - this is sort of cathartic. We owned a very cool import home and garden design store. I traveled to Thailand, Hong Kong and Burma to buy for the store. That was a lot of fun.
I'm in Indiana now only because my 80 year old uncle was alone and blind. He has since died but I'm still here. I'm not sure where I'll move, if anywhere.
I think it would be nice to see people I knew in High School again. It's been so long, and the world has changed so much and is scary. It would be comfortable to see people I knew back when everything was new.
Other people probably have the same reaction I have when I see an old friend: they look so old! But I knew them when they were young. That makes a big difference.
