Karen's Story
Life
I graduated from F.K. Lane in '86. I took a job as a supervisor in a bank for 14 years, leaving that job in April 2000. I now work for an accounting firm, married another Lane graduate, Chris Flood, and were blessed with a beautiful son. Christopher Matthew was born on October 18, 2001. We also purchased our first home in July 2003 in Howard Beach, NY.
While I work full time, I like to spend my weekends doing fun stuff with my husband and son, and also making homemade chocolates and candies. I enjoy reading, puzzles, being online and scented candles.
While there are still many things we are trying to achieve, I can tell you that my life is complete and happy. All I really need is my family and our own home to live, which we have. Everything else, as they say, is just gravy.

Update - We have a new baby!!! James Finlay was born 9/4/06. Big brother Christopher, who will be 5 in October, is thrilled to have a tag team partner!
Dec. 2008 - Well, it's the end of another year. I can't believe it, time just flew by. Our first born is now 7 and in second grade, and our "baby" is now two. Chris and I have been together 10 years. Other than that, everything else is the same. Take care all, and keep in touch!
School
My favorite part of high school was...graduating. Just kidding, I loved all of it. The great teachers, cool classmates, hanging out in the library and the lunchroom. (A special HEY to Steve Frankel's DIRTY ...Expand for more
DOZEN-even though there were more than 12 of us.)
The worst part of high school - GREAT ADVENTURE! What a horrible tragedy. My thought and prayers are with those who were lost, and their families.
College
No news here....I took a few college classes, but nothing big enough to write about!
Workplace
After working 13 years at a bank, everything from being a teller, to processing ATM transactions to being a secretary to a supervisor, I left that job to work as a bookkeeper in a NYC accounting firm. My clients are well known personalities that I am proud to work with.
I also enjoy my co-workers and 3 bosses.
While I wish that I didn't have to work so that I can spend more time with my family, I understand the necessity to do so. My biggest complaint is the travel time-sometimes as much as 4 hours although the average is about 3 hours a day round-trip. Also, being in the city means a longer commute when festivities are going on, like the tree lighting and shows at Radio City Music Hall. But I guess that comes with the territory...
Update 2011. Got a new job in April 2010, and I still love it! Great job (still bookkeeping...) great staff and wonderful bosses. A little different than my last job as far as responsibilities, but I like it. Everyday is a pleasure. Still miss my boys (now 9 and 4, soon to be 10 and 5) but if I have to work, this is the place to do it!
Military
Again, no news here. I never joined the military, although I fully support our troops. I hope everyone comes home safe and sound, very soon.
