Karen's Story
After HS, went to school/work for 1 year before joinging the Army as a Signal Analyst. Had a daughter from a relationship that didn't work out. Worked for my dad for 10 months while going to school (again). Joined the Portland Police Bureau in 1994 as an administrative specialist. Was crime analyst for a year (my analysis caught a cat burglar!) while still doing my admin tasks. Finished my BS in 1996. Took a PI certificate course - still pondering if that will be a side job. Made the mistake of getting married, yet had 2 sweet/beautiful girls. Eventually became supervisor of East Precinct. Got divorced (Thank Goodness!)
My days are full with getting kids to school, working, taking care of our house, shuffling kids to gymnastics, soccer, swimming, etc. Like to keep the kids doing stuff (make them...Expand for more
well rounded). Looking forward to my eldest graduating and off to college (she wants to be a surgeon - I think she'd make a great defense attorney).
I've been toying with the idea of writing a book. My life has been anything but dull and could share some wisdoms I wish I knew ahead of time. I'm not sure why people feel it necessary to get married. If you love the person you're with, what's a piece a paper but a lot of headache later! While my friends still try to get me to go out a "find someone", I don't feel a rush to do that. I'm enjoying my life right now and know that when it's time, the right person will come along. Whether he finds me or I him, I know I won't rush to sign a piece of paper.
I can't believe it has been 20 years since high school. I certainly don't feel that old!
Take care!
