Karen's Story
I moved to Kansas City in May of 1982. So...I have been here about 27 years. I work at Sprint, I have one daughter, who is 26 years old, and I had a son, but he passed away in 1987..He was only 1 1/2 years old.
I am a very proud grandmother of two. Michael Jeremey who will be 5 years old on October 5th, and Dominic James, who was born November 2, 2006, and will be 3. Doesn't seem possible that I am a grandmother!!! But I love it!! I babysit both of them when I can. I love doing genealogy, and have been doing it since 1976. My friend Viki Anderson from Upstate New York, who I have known since I was born..started me doing genealogy. I enjoy looking for new ancestors everyday..Although lately I haven't worked on it at all.
Another hobby I have is I play the piano and organ. I have always loved music, mostly Country Western, that is because my Dad's brother (my Uncle Donald) played the guitar, and at one time years ago had a radio program. He also played for dances. So I guess I am indoctrinated.!!!
I got my Associates in degree in 2002. In the last year I re-connected with an old high school friend, that I went to summer school with in my Freshman year. Kathy (St. John)Radcliffe. in fact she knows more about me than any of my other friend...Expand for more
s do!!! We were best friends then, and we still are..Neither one of us had any sisters, she had two brothers, and I am an only child. So..we have always said we were soul sisters!! She has gotten me through alot of hard times in the last few months!! I have met many people in Kansas City, but I found out through trial and error that they were only fair-weather friends, and people that I thought were friends, unfortunately were backstabbers. I do have a few close friends here and they have been with me through thick or thin, and they don't judge me.
Well I could keep writing on and on and on..I don't want to bore anyone..So that is me in nutshell (shortened although...LOL!!)
I always wanted to be a Teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
I like to walk when I have the time, but that doesn't get to happen very often. My grandson Michael is Autistic, and I watch him and my other grandson Dominic on the weekends while my daughter works. Michael is a challenge, but very loveable, and of course Dominic is at that terrible two stage.
I work for Sprint at the present time as a provisioner II. I moved from Kansas City Kansas to Gardner two years ago, and absolutely love Gardner.
