Life
Fall 2006 will begin my 22nd year of teaching. Most of the years have been in a classroom at Howard Elementary. I was offered a position as a Reading Recovery teacher and I accepted. I spent almost 2 1/2 years working this very intensive program before I had to take a medical leave of absence. Then I went back to the classroom as a third grade teacher at Albert Pike. This will be my 3rd year back with my own classroom. As a matter of fact this classroom is where I did my practice teaching in 1982. I am at home! I live in Fort Smith with my older sister and my uncle. Mom always said if you can't be friends with your family then you can't be friends with anyone. I never knew that meant we would be "Best Friends!"

For those of you who didn't know me in school, or thought that I was "stuck-up"... that could not be farther from the truth. I was overly shy and did not have any confidence in myself. My family moved to Fort Smith when I was in 6th grade and the teasing began then. I have always been overweight and so I would never talk to any guy unless he spoke to me first. My family attended First Baptist Church and so most of the people I became friends with also went to First Baptist. We often had fellowships and parties at our house and those are the fondest memories I treasure. I have a little bit of the shyness still... it is very hard for me to talk to handsome men, I am afraid that they think I am "after them". I still attend First Baptist, but I do not go to the functions they have for the singles.
