Karen's Story
Who am I? Certainly not the person I ever thought I'd be. I am married to a wonderful man, Gary. We have all boys, twins that are 23, and a 16 year old. I work at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids Iowa as a Respiratory Therapist, been there for almost 19 years.
We spend most of our time camping, canoeing and fishing in the summer time(which I am blessed with not having to work-still spoiled I guess). The winter is usually busy at work so my time is spent at the hospital with any free time dedicated to my 16 yr. old-Lucas, who is my athlete! He plays football, wrestles and throws shot and discus.
We also manage to get up to Green Bay 2-5 times a season to watch my Pack sometimes kick butt!(We went up for a tour of Lambeau about 12 yrs. ago and I signed up for season club seat tickets-when they remodeled the stadium I was offered the chance to buy them and we have had them for the last 6 years).
I lost my dad in 1989, that was a crappy year, my mom almost died when her bowel perforated-but they found the lung cancer early! (We just lost her in 2004). My oldest brother, Wayne died from a heart attack in May 1989. We almost lost one of my nieces and her baby when her placenta tore away. The...Expand for more
n in Dec. Gary's grandma passed away. Oh did I tell you that was the yr. I started school for Respiratory?
Life is good though, I am most proud of my family. Gary is my rock, he completes my soul and is my best friend. He surprised me for our 20th anniversary with a Carribean cruise. My kids are much more than I could have ever asked for-with the twins being unexpected, they were the one of the best surprises I have ever gotten. Jeremy has just finished school for opthalmic assistant, William is in W'loo, bought a house not far from my folks old place and is working for a company called Terracon.
As a person, I like to think I haven't changed much, but I probably have. I still ramble-can ya tell? But these days I really don't care much about what others think of me, I am who I am take it or leave it.
If you have ever been a part of my life I want to thank you for taking the time to check up on me, and for playing your part-without you I wouldn't be who I am today, and I love who I am today.
Take care and maybe we'll run into each other again sometime, if not-know that I have probably thought about you and smiled(what that smile means will just make others wonder what I might be planning...)
