Karen's Story
Life
Neil and Karen have now been happily married for 18 years. We met 22 years ago, and have been together ever since. We love the outdoors, and living in Seattle gives us the opportunity to hike and ski in the mountains, take long city walks, hang out at beaches, and sail around the San Juan islands. We live in a small house across from the biggest park in Seattle, where we like to escape for runs and long walks listening to all the birds sing.
Karen is working at the University of Washington (20 years now), where she is Assistant to the Dean of The Information School. Neil owns his own building design business; he was a carpenter and contractor for 15 years, had a back in...Expand for more
jury that caused him to change careers, and now 'builds' on the computer.
No kids of our own, but we enjoy our neices and nephews. Karen's family - the Schiffers - are all well and spread all over the western states (Mom & Dad are in their 70's and doing great - very active!). We have 3 nieces and 2 nephews on Karen's side; on Neil's side we have 2 nieces and 2 nephews, all married, 3 with kids. Because of the different ages of our families, we have a grand niece and a niece that are the same age!
We just got a new dog, Olive, from the Seattle animal shelter. She's 4 years old and the sweetest pet we've ever owned.
