Karen's Story
Life
definitely have an adventurous streak - whether it's trying out an exotic receipe in the kitchen, traveling to different places in the world, or walking in the rain. I'm most happiest when I'm outdoors.,
My philosophy on life: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming... Wow, What a ride!!
School
My nickname in grade school was Bucky.
In 6th grade, I had a teacher named Mr. Lewis, he had thick glasses and wore suspenders. He gave me a "B" on one of my papers, I got mad and called him "Hobo". He overheard and told me he was going to tell my Mom (she was a 3rd grade teacher).
I had a crush on Bill Cassidy when I was in junior high. I remember Bill got caught chewing gum and had to put the piece on the end of his nose.
In junior high, I got a "D" in english, I forged it into a "B", I don't think my parents ever caught on.
The only thing I wouldn't do over again, is take Home Economics, at least I didn't make blue soup.
As a sophmore in high school, I got caught smoking behind the bleachers, I cut geometry class, and my sister who was a senior knew about it since she was an "aide" for the principal.
Mr. Meeker (we called him Mad Dog Meeker) influenced me the most. He took my painting (fern with a watering can) kept it. He was a great singer too.
College
I attended Cochise College. We had a week of events, different types of contests. One was a tobacco spitting contest, another was to see how much A & W rootbeer you cou...Expand for more
ld chug in 5 minutes. I came in first for the tobacco spitting contest, the prize was a free pizza from Pizza Hut. That was salvation because the cafeteria food sucked.
My first week at Cochise College, I got caught with a guy in my dorm room.
My biggest class at Arizona State, there were 500 students and the professor (Dr. Hudson) was blind. It was an incredible sociology class. He was a very interesting instructor.
My worst nightmare was taking pre-calculus at ASU. No matter how much my ex hubby helped me on homework (he was a math major), when test time came, I went blank. I flunked each test. Going into the final, he asked why I wasn't studying, I told him that I didn't care because I'd flunk. The Math God was with me, I got a "D" on the final exam, the instructor had mercy on me and gave me a "D" for the semester.
Workplace
In the last part of 2005, I've gone into the "unknown" and that is a part time business, which I hope to quit the 9-5 JOB in 2-3 years. My businesses is
Pre-Paid Legal Services. The exciting part of this business is not just the income potential but helping people empower their lives, financially and also in every day decision making. This service affords the consumer to make informed decisions and to know what their rights are, and to me that is exciting!
My ultimate goal is time freedom and financial freedom. To sum it up: to be Where I want, When I want, and with Whom I want.
I've done really well. I've worked for some major corps: Mobil Oil; Northrop Grumman Corp; Fast Tax.
