Karen's Story

I dont have a clue if I AM remembered, so thats a bit of a presumptuous question. My main interest during high school was my horse. I'd like to think it kept me out of trouble. I went to Jefferson before Highland and really have more memories from time spent there. Like painting the floors and walls for art class. Hmmmm.... the wildest thing I ever did in school. I guess that would be making out on the front lawn during a dance and having the sprinklers turned on us. His name escapes me. We moved back to Dallas during senior year and I left for Europe summering there, traveling around. It was a safe thing to do back then and no one thought anything about it. Just get a 3 month Euro-rail pass and go! That was a great summer. I took my boys on a similar (albeit shorter) adventure in Germany and Italy a few years ago. Creating memories. I lived in Southern California for about 6 months. Why I came back to Texas is beyond me. Oh, I was homesick and missed my family. Lets see, I didn't get married until I was 29. Never really wanted to. All my friends couldn't wait to get married and have kids while I wanted a job and an apartment. I enjoyed being single. The marriage didn't work out but I have 2 incredible (isn't that what everyone says) boys, so I cant complain. After the divorce, I finished my degree and became a social worker for abused and neglected children. I loved my job. I remaine...Expand for more
d single for 12 years and again really enjoyed my life. Then I met Gary, a West Texas boy in every sense of the word and we were both ready to try again. He's a great guy and we have a lot of fun together. Now we are looking for our next adventure! Gary keeps up with his Abilene high school classmates and that really started me thinking about mine! Lets see, I have always been a happy person with a good sense of humor. Right now, Im just trying to age gracefully. (Can you tell Im answering the 'Story Wizard' questions), dress appropriately and not embarrass my boys! The weirdest job I ever had was a showroom model at the State Fair for 1979 Buick Regal. Standing up on a twirling platform in a tiny sequin dress trying to remember my lines all the while wondering if the audience could see up my dress! Gary and I share our home in McKinney, Texas with Jackson Brown (no 'e') a 5 year old poo huahua, Cricket, an 9 month old short legged, rough coat Jack Russell Terrier, and Chia, a 15 year old red Persian. Its pretty lively around here! Trophies..... I won several Hunter Jumper classes. That is a good memory. Dont have a clue where I'll be in 10 years but I sure hope its in the mountains! Im not sure what "about me" would surprise everyone at Highland. Im not even sure anyone remembers me! Does anyone remember Fiddler Green's? Im eager to hear from anyone out there from Highland High!
