Karen's Story
Life
I actually did not attend my senior year. I stopped after the 11th grade (to get married) and tested for my diploma. However, since I would have graduated with the class of '73 I went ahead and registered here. Now, on with the bio.
I married in June of 1972 and am still married (that makes 36years this June). We have 3 children. They are Justin, age 35, Jessica, age 33and Troy, age 28. We are also grandparents twice over from Justin and his wife, Beth. The grandkids are Michael, age 14, and Denae, age 12. These children have been homeschooled all their lives. They are great kids and I am vey proud of them. Then, our son Troy and his wife Crystal have given us 2 more. They are TJ who is 4 and Chloe who is 1 1/2. They are our little redheads. I have worked for 27 years for the United States Postal Service. I spent the first 9 years at the Long Beach facility and have spent the last 18 years in Bakersfield, CA. I love my job but love the idea of retirement even more (Feb 23, 2011, not that I am counting or anything!). Actually, I do enjoy the work I am doing and will probably not retire when I am eligible. I will just have a new attitude. It will feel great to know that I can go any time they tick me off too bad!
Some of you may remember my brother, Larry Stokes. He was two years behind me and was a member of the Madrigals. He graduated in 1975. Larry passed away from cancer (non-Hodgkins lymphoma) on February 11, 1999. He is sorely missed by our family.
Anyway, we are doing well. Feel free to e-mail me at dkberhow at aol. Thanks
Karen (Stokes) Berhow
