Karen's Story
Life
WOW! The time just flies, seems like yesterday we were the 1st graduating class at Madison HS in San Antonio. After graduation from HS, I went to Abilene Christian Univ, and got a BBA in Finance (grad. May 1984). In short, I was married (10 yrs), then when I was pregnant with our 3rd child (1997) my husband had a "continual affair". I divorced him. The most heart-wrenching decision I've ever had to make. The kids and I have been on our own ever since (with much support from my wonderful parents, friends and church family). We now live in Huntsville, TX and I work for the State of Texas. My kids are adorable: JaNae is in 3rd grade, Denver in 2nd and Conner in 1st. YEA! No more daycare. :-) We stay active with church and sports! Life is GREAT!! Drop me a line!
Dec 2005 update: I got very ill in March 2003, had to quit my job at TDCJ, and eventually had to sell our house in Huntsville and move back to San Antonio and in with my parents. WHEW...Expand for more
! That was so tough to do, but it was my only choice, I was so sick, I couldn't do anything by myself. Found out that I had cryptogenic cirrohsis. Thanks to God's care and the generous gift from a friend, I got life again. My friend of 15 years---her son died in a car accident and he was a match for me! I got Jeremy's liver in June 2004. I"m feeling great again, and we are living on our own again, and live is wonderful again.
Workplace
I've had various jobs since College Graduation: mainly in the Credit/Collections and Finance/Investments areas. But getting back in the work force after the divorce I did a bit of work at SBC, Service Excellence (at a Hospital) and Administration (at a Funeral Home). Now I'm working in Procurements for TDCJ. But the best "job" I've ever had was before my divorce when I could stay at home mom! But now with 3 kids ages 7, 6, and 5, being on my own---I think it would drive me crazy to stay home all the time, Haha!
