Karen's Story
Life
I am the Brand Advertising Manager for Wolseley North America. I live in Selma though, so I have a bit of a commute to the corporate office in Raleigh. I have 2 wonderful doggies. Miss Fancy is my pride and joy. She's my spoiled little angel. She's a pit bull. Then we have Sampson. He's a bull mastiff. He's too big already. But he's sweet. So I have to love him. I have a great husband who plays golf more than Tiger Woods. We will have our 8 year anniversary in October. Our son will be 17 this July. He's completely consumed with his truck and his girlfriend. School
I started my school career at Carver Elementary where, let me tell you, I had the best time of my life. I LOVED elementary school. I have some of the most wonderful memories and long for those days. I also made some of the closest friends, who I still talk to today.
Junior High. Ugh. Did ANYONE enjoy Jr. High? Mt. Olive wasn't so bad, just that dramatic time in your life that takes over everything! But, the friends made it worth it I guess. And my favorite teacher Mrs. Lent made her debut!

glad I had the experiences, but I'm glad I'm not there anymore. I didn't miss high school too much after I left. Mainly just the people.
College
I started out college at ECU in 1994. My first dorm was all girls in Clement Hall. It was so close to downtown that I swear they should have charged admission to get in our dorm. lived in Slay my sophomore year. Co-ed. Nice.
My junior year I was in Slay again. With a different roommate. That was fun. But I decided to leave 1/2 way through the year. I decided that I wanted to be an artist. So I am now. I went to JCC and got my degree in Advertising and Graphic Design. And that's what I do now. I miss all the friends I made at ECU. They were wonderful and I have a TON of great memories. I still keep in touch with a handful of people. Wish it was more. :)
Workplace
I worked in a print shop in college, which is where I met my husband. After that, I moved on to an advertising agency. Not for me. Didn't like that environment. So I got a job at Stock Building Supply as a graphic designer. I moved up that chain one link into the Creative Director position, and now I am the Brand Advertising Manager for Stock. I manage the advertising and creative for the company.
