Karen's Story
I retired! I was last staff RN in Student Health Services at UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio) working at both the Main Campus and the Downtown Campus.
In the hospital I worked Pediatrics and Adolescents until I sustained injuries in a MVA (I survived being hit by a drunk driver--he did not make it). The limitations from the injuries sustained eventually led to my leaving the hospital, so I found other areas of nursing--home health nurse, college health nurse, and a private school nurse.
In 2008 returned to college health nursing as I enjoy working with the college age students as they range from those barely old enough to drive (I have a few 16 year olds) to those in their medicar...Expand for more
e years. I truly enjoy my job and my colleagues are the best. How many of us can say that?
Thanks to my sister, Sheila, (class of '72 at SGHS) I am the proud aunt of two nephews and one niece, who have blessed me with six great nieces and one great nephew, one great great niece and one great great nephew. In July my great great niece will become a big sister to my second great great nephew. In September my niece will be gifting me another great nephew.
I am attending Wigstock !!. I arrive on Friday, June 10 and leaving Tuesday, June 14. I will be staying with a friend from the church I attended when I still lived in San Bernardino. I look forward to seeing as many of you who can attend!
