Karen's Story
After 6 months at Mt. San Jacinto I decided I needed to make money & get on with my life. I worked as a long distance operator at General Telephone for 2 years & married Mark Anderson in 1972. I then moved to the Hemet Police Dept. as a Matron/Dispatcher for 6 months. The next 2 years I worked at Agri-Empire in the accounting dept. while Mark got his degree from UCR. We moved to Boston in 1976 so that Mark could get his Masters from Brandeis Univ. & I got my first job as a buyer. it was love at first P.O. I had found my career.
We moved to Macomb, Il. in 1978 & Mark started working at WIU. Two years later we moved outside "town" to Adair, Il. &...Expand for more
into our first home with payments instead of rent. It was a large house with a formal dining room, formal library, hardwood floors, stained glass & leaded glass windows, pocket doors (wood & glass), and a basement. And I cried when we moved back to Calif. because I had to leave my beautiful home. Our son Tim was born while we were living there.
For the last 25 years Mark has been working at SDSU in San Diego in the Theatre Dept. The last 23 years I worked as a electronic/mechanical buyer & was "let go" in a merger last April. Our son Tim graduated from Platt College 2 years ago with a degree in Website Design & is working for a local company.
