Karen's Story

Life I got married June of 1959,divorced in 1964.Had 2 boys-Doug who is correctional officer at Pelican Bay,and David who works in a convalescent home in Crescent City.Remarried in 1965 which lasted for 18 years and had a daughter Michele who lives close by here in San Diego.I divorced in 1983 and remarried in 1984 (finally got it right) I was a pharmacy tech for Kaiser Permanente for 11 years untill I retired in 2001.Sort of bored now,so I need to find a part time job. My husband Gary works for the San Diego Trolley in revenue (counts all the money from all the machines) We have 3 grandchildren-soon to be 4 and 6 cats who we love very much. I hope to get back to Port Orchard again sometime-they say you can't (or shouldn't) go home again, because everything will be so changed, and you will feel disappointed, but I'd like to chance it. The 50's were great times.I like to think of it as an innocent time when people had values and morals. Maybe,I am remembering with "rose colored glasses" I attended the 45th re-union and had a great time! It was so neat that so many people took time out from their busy lives to once again look back and think about the good times we had back then-I was very disappointed at seeing the old school-looks like a maximum security prison to me! But,I imagine the amount of students must be staggering-not like the good old times of the 50's! School I went to Port Orchard elementary-Marcus Whitman Junior High and South Kitsap High.If I could pick a time to go back to,it would be the 3 years I spent at South Kitsap High.I don't know if it was just the times or the times and the school.Ty Stephens who taught biology w...Expand for more
as great,I remember Joseph Burst (Journalism)Cale Campbell (school paper) Art Grosso (principal) Stenner Kvinsland (vice principal) Anita (?) (girls gym teacher) Miss Sandness (shorthand) Mrs Bruce (typing) Pretty good memory for an old person, huh? School was great! I felt a twinge when I found out the old school was gone. I did get a brick from the original building though from my good friend Lynne Goodwin (Ryan) I also got a 1949 yearbook for my sister who graduated then (hers got lost in the shuffle somehow) the people who work at S.K. in the ASB office are all so helpful and caring. I attended the 50th reunion and was so glad I did. The planning committee did a great job. I think we all had a goodI time and the picnic the next day was also very nice. My husband is retiring in 2 years and I wonder what life will be like then? I always wanted to be a mother when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a idea idea. As it turns out, they were right. I go for a drive to the beach If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the bedroom and add on a mother in law house. My dream home would be very roomy. patience If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to my family, then spend the rest on a house, a car and ira. My current age is 68. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be ancient. I was so completely wrong. In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by hook or crook. 5th grade- I was outgoing and she wasn't My first job was at Retsil Grocery, where I got paid $10.00 per week to be a clerk. What I remember most about it is How nice my boss was. Skating in the torn down projects in Retsil
