Karen's Story

Life Hello, fellow classmates! I'm not sure where to start, so I will start with the present for right now. I have one Biological child, his name is James & today August 8th, is his birthday, he is 31 years old now. WOW!!! I never thought that I would live past the age of 20, let alone have a child who is 31 years old! In July of 1993, I married my husband Dana, who is an absoulutely wonderful person. We've just celebrated our 14TH Anniversary! It feels like we've been married only for a week or so, not 14 years. Anyway when Dana & I were married; I in-herited -five- more children. Yes five! And one grandchild. Now; we are the proud grandparents of -six- grandchildren. I'm still waiting for my son James to find someone & settle down. James went into the Navy after he got out of High School. He started College late in his life. He went to Fresno State and after a few years off, he finale went back & finished. He graduated this past May 2007, with a BA in Philosophy. I'm very proud of him. We moved here to Twenty-nine Palms, California in August of 2003. We bought 2.5 acres, with two small cabins included with it. Dana retired July 2003, and I quit working August 2003 then we moved here. The two cabins are about 50 feet apart from each other. The back cabin is our living quarters which consists of living room, bathroom, bedroom/laundry room. It is all very small & compact. The front cabin is my kitchen. That is all that it is. So when I decide to cook dinner, or what ever I have to walk across our walk-way to the kitchen to get everything ready. At first it was kind of strange but now I am used to it. When we moved here, we brought our furry, exten...Expand for more
ded family with us of course. Three dogs; (Munchkin) a small blonde terrier mix, who sad to say passed on, in May 2004, (Sherlock) a toy Manchester Terrier mix (13 yrs. old), (Sabrina) a minature Poodle (7 yrs. old), (Lil' Brat) a domestic cat (14 yrs. old) and believe me, he does live up to his name!!! Ha, Ha. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't know really what his breed is, but he is beautiful, and everyone who sees him, wants him! Each of our pets have their own story behind them on how they came to be a part of our family. Maybe one day I will tell you their story, when I figure out how to navigate through this Classmates thing. Yesterday, I got the news that a picture I took and submitted to a photo contest a few months ago, was picked to go into publication, for, "The International Library of Photography"!! I was surprised & thrilled. It was my first picture I have ever submitted for a contest. Also, I have been asked to write a few articles for a friends Website. I told the person who asked me, that I would have to think about it for awhile. So now I have thought about it, and I decided that I will give it a try. I did write for his Website a short cut down version of how we came to have our cat (Lil' Brat). If you want to check it out go to(CopperMountainMesa.Com/). The story I wrote is in "Karen's Corner" area. Just go to the web page, and scroll down until you come to it. I thought I had to keep my story down to about 300 words, so I had to leave a lot of stuff out. But now I find I can write as much as I want to. I'll be working on another story in a week or two. Right now, I'm feeling a bit under the weather. I guess that is all for now. Karen
