Karen's Story

Life I currently live in the Huntsville, Alabama area, and I work as a Human Resources Manager for NASA. Prior to that I was in the Washington, DC area working for the Department of Veterans Affairs doing Human Resources work. For those of you familiar with the federal government, I have over 35 years of government service, and I am looking forward to some day enjoying the retirement I've built up over these years! I'm certified by the Society for Human Resource Management Certification Institute (SHRM/HRCI) as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. I have lived and worked for the Federal Government in several places, including Chicago, IL, Jackson, MS, Atlanta, GA, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Nashville, Washington, DC, and now Huntsville, Alabama. College After graduating from high school I went to Marietta-Cobb Vocational Technical School (now called Chattahoochee Tech) in Marietta, GA...Expand for more
and obtained a secretarial science diploma. I've also attended classes at Kennesaw State University while working towards my Senior Professional Certification in Human Resources Management (SPHR). I tested for this professional certification and obtained it in May, 2003. Workplace and Personal Life: I've worked for the U.S. Government since 1977. First in San Antonio for the Air Force, then at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, GA until 1990. At that time I moved to Chicago, IL and began working for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Human Resources. I provide assistance and advice for all areas of Human Resources Management. I have a son Lee, who lives in Georgia and a granddaughter Breanna, who lives in Illinois. I am also Mom to 4 furry children (2 rescued lynx-point siamese cats, and 2 rescued retired racing greyhounds). Drop me a line and let me know what's going on with you!
