Karen's Story
Life
Hi all. I graduated from McLane in 1965, married George Hansen (class of '63) in 1966. We still live in Fresno, have 3 grown children, 2 of which live here in Fresno also. Our oldest, Laurie, married another Fresnoite, she and her husband Eric have 3 beautiful children, Garrett is 5 and in Kindergarten, Gillian is 2 1/2, and baby Gabrielle "Elle" is 8 months. They are the light of our lives. Our middle child, Bryan, also lives here and was married in our backyard in September of 2005. Our youngest, Matthew, lives in Huntington Beach. We also have 2 Miniature Dachshounds and one cat. I had 2 horses until a back injury in '97, then I had to find other homes for them. As you can probably tell, I love animals ALMOST as much as I love kids!
George is an insurance agent with an office in Kerman. Until my back injury, I was a legal secretary, now retired. I take care of our grandchildren 3 days (or more) a week and somehow manage to keep pretty busy the rest of the week. We are both pretty active in our church activities and Bible studies - George teaches an adult Sunday School class, I am in charge of our nursery and am active with our children's church program - mostly as an administrator/overseer, occasionally teaching.

g to use raising our children, as well as being a teacher's aide in a Special Education class for several years while our children were in elementary school. George got his degree from Fresno State in business and accounting, and was in the National Guard for the first 5 years of our marriage. George and I didn't know each other at school, even though I knew (and dated) some of his friends. We were both fairly shy and didn't socialize much or participate in many of the school activities (I was in choir under Sam Barkman as my only school activity). We met in February of '66 - he worked at the old McMillans market on Blackstone and Shaw, and I worked at Casner Drug store, next door, and a mutual friend introduced us. The rest, as they say, is history.
We manage to keep in touch with a few old friends from McLane and Hoover, though we haven't attended most of the reunions, just one each of his '63 and my '65 class. They always seemed to come at a time when we aren't able to attend. even though we would have loved to see many of you! We would love to hear from any of you who remember us. I am not a "Gold Member", so cannot respond to anything sent to me through Classmates at this point, and this format does not allow me to list my email address... I think if YOU are a gold member it may allow you to see MY email address.
