Some of you may remember me as the girl who always wanted to get out, see more. Well, I did. I spent only a year in college in the Midwest before heading out. I have lived outside of L.A. (talk about culture shock!), east of San Francisco (some of the most beautiful hiking there is), between Denver and Boulder (where my husband and I became engaged & would love to retire), and now we are northeast of Orlando where we purchased our first home in 2004 on the same Friday the 13th our first major hurricane hit. We were blessed to make it through unharmed. It was while in Northern California that my husband, Scott, and I met. We share the same sense of family, search for adventure, and appreciation of the quiet times. When planning our wedding for September 2004, though, I realized there's no place like home. I had to be true to my Midwestern ties, and chose Living History Farms outside of Des Moines as the perfect site. Of course, afterwards we took off to the most Northeastern part of Canada we could find (Prince Edward Island) for our honeymoon. Where else do people who live in the tropics go for vaca?
