Karen's Story
Life
I live in California with my husband who is a chemist and a VP at a laboratory instrument company. We have two daughters. One is a graphic designer and the other is a dentist. I have twin grandsons.
I went back to school a few years after high school and earned a BS in Nutrition and Food Science from UC Berkeley. I stopped working a few years later to be a stay-at-home mom, and I haven't gone back since. Over the years, I have spent my time taking care of home and the kids, doing volunteer work, hiking, rollerblading, fencing, decorating, gardening, geocaching and traveling.

I like to learn some of the language so I can try to converse with the natives. My favorite trips have been the 4 trips to India to attend weddings.
For the last several years, I have organized a team to enter the Bay to Breakers centipede costume contest. We won twice!
Since, 1994, much of my time has been occupied with volunteering for an organization, Destination Imagination, that teaches creative problem-solving to kids. I was a Team Manager when my kids were younger, and for many years have been involved in organizing our regional and state tournaments. My husband and I have also been invited to officiate at the Global Finals for the last several years.
