Karen's Story
Born in San Jose, still in San Jose. I stayed in Evergreen after my parents moved there in 1972. Got married in 1977 and bought a house. Sold that one and bought another house up near the Villages. Got divorced in 1987, sold that house, and bought a townhouse in Berryessa. I should have gone into Real Estate!
I lived happily in my townhouse and even though I vowed not to remarry....I did. Married a nice guy but that one wasn't destined to last. After 7 years, we realized that aside from being musicians, the only other thing we had in common was that we were air breathing mammals. What adds a note of interest to this story is that we were in a 4 piece rock band. We both stayed in the band after the divorce and I started dating and eventually married Steve, the guitar player in the band. We're now living happily in the east foothills near Alum Rock Park.
About the band:
Against all odds, well sorta, I started a rock band in my 40's and have now been a lead singer in a classic rock band for nearly 10 years. I get to live out my rock n' roll fantasies. Who knew I was a "ham" in need of an audience ....but here I ham. (yuk) :o) We have a video on youtube. You can find us under "Wild Motion"...live music performance. The video is out of sync which ...Expand for more
make me nuts but we didn't post it. The guy playing guitar is my husband.
My day job is staging homes for the real estate market and doing interior redesign. I have my own business called Transform Your Home.
Steve (as seen in the pictures) and I also write music for local videos and films and are just about ready to release a CD of our original compositions.
I never had a career per se but had some really cool and not so cool jobs; I sold insurance for State Farm for 14 years then went into in Human Resources. The day I had to lay off 10 people 3 weeks before Christmas and had grown men crying in front of me was the beginning of the end of that. I quit and did a complete 180 career-wise and went to school to become a floral designer. I got a job while I was in school working at The Daisy Patch in Willow Glen. Worked there for quite a few years when, believe it or not, I got tendinitis in BOTH arms and had to quit working. Now I'm a home stager and love what I do.
It's taken a long time to finally be where I belong, to be doing what I love with the person I love. I'm grateful for the bumps in the road and for the times that pushed me harder than I could push back. I'm older, wiser, and wouldn't want it any other way.:o)
Cheers,
Karen
