Karen's Story
Life
How do you write a bio for 50 years. I have no idea but I shall try. After I left school my first job for the summer was 4 months at Yellowstone Park. After Yellowstong I moved to Rapid City, South Dakota and worked at a Hospital in the record room. I also met and married my first husband in Rapid City. We had a daughter and then we moved to a little town in northern California called Salyer.
My husband at that time worked for the Forest Service for several years and we added to the family with another little girl. In 1968 he joined the California Highway Patrol and we moved to San Diego. After a few years we parted and then I met and married my present husband. We stayed in San Diego for a few more years and added to our family with another girl. In 1980 we left California and came up to Bellingh...Expand for more
am, Washington.
In 1984 we became Forster Parents and for the next twenty years we had over 200 children in and out of our home. It was hard work but very gratifying to help little children who's parents can't help them.
In 2004 I retired from the Foster Care system and now I
can have sometime for myself and my husband.
I had 5 grandchildren but we lost one two years ago to a swimming accident. She was 14 at the time. We miss her
dearly. Living grandchildren are 3 girls and one boy. Our oldest granddaughter is in the Army and now serving in Bagdad.
My hobbies are crocheting, camping some traveling and just having a good time.
I had some college but didn't go full time as I hated school. I wish I could be at the reunion but it is just not in the cards. Hello to all and I do wish I could be there.
