Kari's Story
Life
After graduation, went to Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, floral design program, graduated in August of 1982. I married Mark Barton, Creston Class of 1976, in 1983. We moved to Boone and have been here every since. I was a floral designer/shop manager for 20 years, last July we bought a gift shop, Purple Crow Gifts, which I run primarily by myself with help from Mark and family.
We have 2 children, a son Kody, who is 15 and a sophmore and daughter, Holly who is 9 and a 3rd grader.

course plays basketball. He and Mark and working on restoring a 53 Chevy pickup since he will be driving by end of summer. Holly is in dance and loves to do arts and crafts.
2 years ago we built our new home, doing most of the work ourselves. It took us 1 year to complete working mostly evenings and long weekends, we moved in April of 2003. The kids weren't real thrilled with the process, but Mark and I really enjoyed the challange.
