Kari's Story

Life Living in Albany, NY with my bf Mat. We celebrated 4 years together in April '08. Bought my first motorcycle (yes I'm going to learn to ride it!) We got Boris (the cat) in September '06. Sasha lives with my parents in Kansas. I'm learning to ski, and enjoying every bruise, bump, and ass-over-teakettle! School In high school I don't think I had a "biggest crush" as the prompt mentions. I had my close group of friends that I loved. We didn't really fit with other groups, except ourselves, though we had friends in other groups. I still remember Mr. Fleming, and actually utilized his expertise when I was teaching to help my students with their writing. I would so NOT do high school again. I would rather redo the first two years of college, maybe even the whole thing. I'd go general the 1st year, then declare, instead of torturing myself for 3 years in engineering (YUCK!) The memories I have of school, pretty much revolve around after school in the BPA room with Diana doing silly things there, and in drama or journalism during the late night hours when no one in their right mind was awake. College I went to Texas Tech for 5 years (yes, I was a "super senior"). I started Architecture & Civil Engineering. Did that for nearly 2 years. Then went English. Stayed with that until I got my degree. Got a job offer to teach, the same day I was accepted to the SAAHE (Higher Ed) program at Texas A&M. Took the master's opportunity. Did that for 2 years and was a hall director. From there well, l...Expand for more
ife took me many places. I had one crazy roommate freshman year, who moved out at semester because she was flunking out. Her parents made her move in with her sister. Then I had a single in the dorms for the next 2 years. Then I lived with Melissa, who abandoned me when she graduated, but we're still very close friends. Then moved in with the psycho roommate *shudder*. Then got an apartment by myself and had the best roommate ever... my kitty!! Workplace Wow, my work history sucks. I think I had longer jobs in high school. I remember being a waitress at Varsity Inn, then working at Wuest's downtown, then worked for Alamo Group (Service Rhino division) for two summers while in college. After I got my degree I worked in Houston for a privatized housing company, transferred with them up to Omaha. Then worked as a Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Center, which you would think paid a bit, but didn't, so I went on to teach. I taught 7th grade for 2 years, coached track (shot put & discus), and varsity softball for the adjoining high school. I coached two city champs two years in a row in discus, one of my guys beat the city record. That was an amazing moment!! I moved back to Kansas after, well a bad relationship experience, did 911 until I got a job at Pittsburg State, and then moved up here to New York to be closer to Mat (who lives up in Albany area.) I worked 2 years at Caremark, but now I'm at New York State Dept. of Health as a Health Programs Administrator (Intern). It's good :)
