Bruce's Story

I do two things now that I said I wouldn't do when I was 18. One was to drink coffee and the other play golf. I now have a mocha on the way to play 18. Did I also say 'Yell at my kids'? I have always enjoyed being competitive, usually with some kind of ball involved. There was basketball, then baseball, volleyball, softball, bowling, tennis and since I can't move like I used to there's golf and watching high school football. I became a DMD for a living but have put in many an hour building things. At one time I owned a small dump truck and a backhoe- used while building a commercial building that houses my dental practice. I live in Oregon City, Oregon and enjoy it for the most part. My family now lives in a log house on five acres with a little stream that runs through the property. The summers are really nice but the rainy winters can be long and dreary. The weather is one thing I miss about SoCal .....and the beaches. I've been to every state west of the Mississippi yet have not made it to the East Coast. My kids have been to Europe and the East Coast twice- go figure. I don't think I've changed much in my World View over the years and remain a little goofy and philosophical. I hope this little blurb helps and that ...Expand for more
any school day memories reminisced would be good ones- or at least funny and that you might be in good health. Oh yeah- flossing really does help! 3-25-2014 Update Got all three of my children married off now- my daughter and youngest son this past summer-but no grandkids yet. There really is something to a "midlife crisis" and "empty nest syndrome". My parents are both gone now and I don't make it back to Camarillo very often. One of my brothers lives in Thousand Oaks and one in Walnut so I see them once in a while. I'm taking a Master Clinician Course in Dental Implantology this year from the gIDE Institute in Santa Monica- April, June and September. A shout out for anyone considering dental implants for tooth replacement- can be a wonderful thing if done properly but is a bit expensive. Good success rate. I'd like to pass on one of my favorite quotes from Abe Lincoln-"I suppose if I had six hours to cut down a tree I'd spend half the time sharpening my axe" and one that I used to disagree with but probably now agree with-"God helps those who help themselves" along with "the more I practice the luckier I get". Oh yeah, and the one I made up-"Life is hard and then you have to go see the dentist" Peace from Oregon City
